The Affenpinscher Club wishes to encourage better judging and to this end has devised a training scheme which it hopes will be flexible enough to accommodate anyone who wishes to further their knowledge of the breed. Although the scheme is primarily intended for those wishing to judge the breed, it is open also to those not interested in judging but keen to understand more about the Affenpinscher especially those who might wish to breed from their dogs.
On application to the Club and the payment of a fee, the student will receive an information pack that contains, among other things, a list of the Club’s designated trainers. These are senior breeders and exhibitors who are prepared to give up their time to discuss the standard, talk about breed type and allow the student to go over a number of dogs.
It is up to the student to contact three of these people in turn and arrange a session at a mutually convenient time. At the end of each session, the trainer will sign the student’s record sheet that should be returned to the Club Secretary on completion of three visits. The Secretary will contact the trainers for a report on the student’s progress. If found to be satisfactory by the committee, a diploma will be issued and they will consider adding the student’s name to the Club’s Judging List.
