WHY BELONG TO A BREED CLUB?

The Affenpinscher Club welcomes anyone interested in the breed as a member.   If you are a new Affenpinscher owner, we hope you will have many years of pleasure from your dog.  The breeder of your dog is always there to help and advise you, so you might feel you do not need to join our breed club;  you don’t intend to show or breed from your Affenpinscher;  he or she is purely a pet so why should you join? 

Firstly for a very modest annual subscription you get two excellent magazines plus a newsletter each year and we run two shows but the role of a breed club is much more than that.  The Club exists to protect the interests of the Affenpinscher including its health and welfare.  It has a responsibility to the Kennel Club (KC) to conducts its affairs in accordance with the rules and regulations of that organisation relating to breed clubs and a committee is appointed to oversee the Club’s business.   An annual fee is paid to the KC to remain a club.  Fees have to be paid for show licences and other incidentals.  There are hidden expenses that members would not be aware of other than the major ones such as insurance, postage, printing and stationery that any small commercial venture would encounter.  The Treasurer’s report at the AGM highlights these.  The Committee is made up entirely of volunteers who support the Club at their own expense willingly offering their time to run events, provide food, help owners and to further the best interests of the Affenpinscher.  Advice is always available when requested.

The subscription supports the backroom work as does attending events, supporting raffles and purchasing items from the Club merchandise stand.  We hope you will consider joining the Affenpinscher Club to help us protect the future of our little monkeys.
